May is full of reasons to celebrate our furry companions, and this week brings a perfect excuse to spend even more quality time together: Do Lunch With Your Dog Day on May 15! And with Mother’s Day just behind us, it’s a wonderful moment to honor all the devoted pet moms who make life so sweet.

Here’s how to plan a paw-some lunch date with your pup and make it a day to remember:

Find a Pet-Friendly Patio

Many restaurants and cafés welcome dogs on their outdoor patios. Look for local spots that not only allow dogs but might even offer water bowls, dog treats, or pet-specific menu items. Be sure to call ahead or check their website to confirm their pet policy before you go.

Pack a Pup Picnic

If dining out isn’t your style, why not pack a picnic? Choose a dog-friendly park and bring along a blanket, some of your favorite snacks, and a few treats for your dog. Don’t forget essentials like water, a collapsible bowl, and maybe a toy or two to keep your pup entertained.

Bring Dog-Safe Snacks

While you enjoy your meal, treat your furry friend to some safe and tasty snacks of their own. Baby carrots, apple slices (without seeds), and peanut butter (xylitol-free) make great dog-friendly options. Or splurge on some special gourmet dog treats from your local pet store.

Practice Good Patio Etiquette

Keep your dog on a short leash, make sure they’re well-behaved around other diners, and bring waste bags just in case. A comfy mat or towel can make your pup feel more relaxed while you dine.

Don’t Forget the Photos!

Capture the moment with a few cute selfies or candid shots of your dog enjoying the outing. Not only will you have a sweet memory, but your friends and family will love seeing your pup’s big day out.

At Oak Grove Kennel, we know how special these little moments with our pets can be. Whether it’s a lunch date, a cozy day at home, or a fresh new grooming session to get them picnic-ready, we’re here to help you celebrate your pet every day of the year. Our grooming services will have your dog looking and feeling their best, perfect for a day out on the town!

Happy belated Mother’s Day to all the amazing pet moms out there, and cheers to a fun-filled Do Lunch With Your Dog Day!
